Phoenix is a French indie rock band from Versailles, formed in 1995. The band consists of Thomas Mars (lead vocals), Deck d'Arcy (bass, keyboards, backing vocals), Christian Mazzalai (guitar, backing vocals), and Laurent Brancowitz (guitar, keyboards, backing vocals). Their sound blends indie pop, synth-pop, pop rock, and new wave. Since 2005, Thomas Hedlund has been their session and live drummer.
Phoenix's discography includes seven studio albums. Their fourth album, "Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix" (2009), was a major breakthrough, featuring hit singles "1901" and "Lisztomania" and winning a Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album. Their subsequent album, "Bankrupt!" (2013), was commercially successful, leading them to headline major festivals like Coachella and Primavera Sound.
In 2017, they released "Ti Amo," an album influenced by Italo disco and celebrating their European, Latin roots. Their seventh album, "Alpha Zulu" (2022), was recorded in the Louvre Palace during the COVID-19 pandemic and was inspired by the death of their longtime producer and mentor, Philippe Zdar.

In 1995, Mazzalai's brother, Laurent Brancowitz, joined after the dissolution of his previous band, Darlin', which included future Daft Punk members.
